I work part time with Conatus and have really enjoyed working closely with the team since 2015.  My work involves direct work as well as consultation and training.  The team approach and shared principles are a fantastic support in helping children, families, and professionals.

Over my career I have worked within the NHS for over 27 years. During that time, I have worked with children and adolescents both in mental health services and in physical health services where I supported children and their families in coping with the impact of a physical illness and life limiting conditions.

Since 2005 I focused my interests on supporting children in care and families in adoptive placements and kinship care.  My work involved both direct assessment and therapeutic work with young people and their carers; supporting the network around the child to develop a trauma-informed understanding of the impact of early developmental trauma on the young person’s coping, resilience, and development.  Through this work I have further developed my clinical skills in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and I am a certified DDP Practitioner.
I am now in the process of taking my training to Consultant level certification.  I have completed Level 2 Theraplay training, and I am passionate about how we can further support young people in the safety of their relationships and their emotional regulation through play and a PACEful approach.

I am particularly interested in understanding the impact of trauma on the sensory system and I have worked very closely with Occupational Therapists within my role as a clinician and a manager to develop services to meet the holistic needs of the child.

I have further interest and experience in understanding the neurodevelopmental impact of experiences (trauma, health, mental health) on children’s development and I have enjoyed working with professionals and families to aim to identify key strategies and approaches that will enable the child to achieve to their full potential.
