Claire Huxford

Claire-Huxford
I qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2005 and have worked with children with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs.

In 2008 I specialised in Autism Spectrum Conditions and have worked in diagnostic teams both in the NHS and private practice since 2012 as a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist. I have undergone formal training to deliver autism-specific diagnostic assessments, such as the ADOS-2 and ADI-r, and I assess both children and adults for autism. I am experienced in delivering autism assessments and speech and language assessments online as well as in clinic.

Since 2018 I have worked as an associate for Conatus as part of my private practice. I am particularly enthusiastic about supporting girls and women with autism. I have provided training for diagnostic clinicians on the potential differences experienced by autistic women and girls to develop clinicians’ skills and knowledge to better identify subtler characteristics. I am enthusiastic about my role and like to keep my knowledge and skills current.
Mental health and emotional well-being are also of particular interest to me and I am passionate about supporting children, adults and their families. My approach is considerate, friendly and down to earth.

Animals are another passion of mine and I have also undertaken training in Animal Assisted Therapy. I have a wonderful Hungarian Vizsla called Adelaide and have enjoyed parenting a number of exotic pets over the years.
